What is belly dancing/ oriental dancing
RAKS SHARI – Belly dancing or oriental dancing
Many dancers refuse the term belly dancing. It may be due to the fact that this name doesn't really fit. The commonly used term „belly dancing“ leads to the wrong assumption that only the belly is in motion. But it is rather the specific isolated control of the bodyparts that matters. The shoulders, hips, butt, head, arms, hand, upper part of the body and so on.
Actuallly one can use both terms aside.
„Bauchtanz“ comes from the french name „danse du ventre“ and has later been translated into english as „belly dancing“. The arabian name „Raks shari“ means „Oriental Dancing“ or „Dancing of the East“, whereas the Assyrian word „rakadu“ could be translated as „to be happy“ or „celebrating“
affecting your health and your soul:
Belly dancing lets you express your inner beauty. The soul will come to the surface, the exaltation for dancing will be visible in your eyes. This is what makes the beauty of this dance and also of the dancer, because her expression creates the final impact of her movements. This creates an own body expression. Music plays a dominant role in this context, because its variety allows many interpretation and realisation possibilities.
This way one can merge with the music and express this through and with the body.
